About Me

Picture of fields in the countryside

My house and practice is situated in Normanton on Soar which is a small village about 4 miles outside of Loughborough. I am married and have 4 children.

Previous work experience involved office based work in business environments and working with young people with special educational needs in an educational setting. Much of this work was working with young people on the Autistic Spectrum.

I am an experienced counsellor and also work as a Clinical Supervisor being qualified to CPCAB Diploma Level 5. I work with clients, aged 16 and up, and have experience of working with a wide variety of issues - please see Counselling page. My area of special interest is in Loss and Change. I have written and run workshops on bereavement and suicide risk, and in the past, counselled for 10 years on a voluntary basis for an agency specialising in Bereavement and Loss. Additionally, I worked as a Lecturer teaching Person-Centred Counselling to students studying up to and including CPCAB Diploma Level 4.

I am a Registered and Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I am fully committed to working within their ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy. I use a Person-Centred approach, but have also studied CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Gestalt Therapy and Mindfulness, therefore the counselling that we embark upon will be tailored to your needs and which we can review together. For more information please go to the BACP website.

My aim is to build a relationship with my clients, one which is open and honest and free from any judgement. The counselling work that we do together centres around you. We will work with what you bring to the sessions, and at your pace, and where I won’t be giving you any advice. By being able to talk about your thoughts and feelings, and to explore any underlying issues, this can enable you to find the answers for yourself and move forward.

I feel passionately about counselling and how it can make a real difference to peoples’ lives. I am very committed to my professional and personal development so that I can be the best for my clients.
